Falling Water

Tom said this trip was checking of an item on his "bucket list". It was for both of us. Our visit to Taliesin West a few years ago combined with several winters in Palm Springs has left us with a love of things Frank Lloyd Wright and Mid-Century Modern.

Approaching the house

View from the bridge. You can see the steps which lead down to the creek from the living room.

Bear Run as seen from the bridge.

Walking from the guest house and garage back to the main house.

Showing how the house is anchored in the rock.

Entrance area.

Wright was a proponent of hidden entries, saying that you did not need your neighbors watching you come and go. What neighbors?

The iconic view.

The basic tour does not allow photos inside the house and unfortunately there were no openings for the in depth tour until mid-June. We are planning a return trip, possibly in the fall of 2018.

Just downstream from Falling Water is the town, river, and falls of Ohiopyle. It was so nice to see mountains and white water again.

Up stream.

 View downstream.

Hardy souls reach the opposite bank via trails from the state park.
