On September 2nd, Leslie and her friends camp hosts Lee and Janet talked me into a 5-mile round-trip hike to the Lone Star Geyser.
Lee gave us some quick lessons in the care and use of bear spray at the start of the track. Fortunately we did not see one.
Hike along the Firehole River
Time 12:19
The geyser was quiet when we arrived. Eruptions at the time were fairly regular so we settled down to wait while eating lunch.
12:46
12:47
There were several "teasers" of activity.

Then finally, the big show.
13:22
Each eruption witnessed is entered in the log book.
It was a great hike, but next time I'm going to opt for a bicycle. Many of the back roads and trails are great for cycling.
